Route :  Chepu - Ahuenco

Timing : 6 hours app. Slow walk - 12 kms. Round trip.

Difficulty : Medium, with rains you will find mud!

Best Season : December through March

This route requires to cross by boat from Chepu Adventures to south side of  Chepu river mouth.    First stage takes you to Huevil Beach, then you continue through beaches, cliffs, evergreen forests, rocks, mud and beaches.  Close to Ahuenco you can see Metalqui island and Ahuenco Penguin Colony.

Ahuenco island is a natural nesting place for Humboldt & Maguellan Penguins, we respect their privacy and do not get close to penguins in order not to impact them.

There are lookout points from where you can watch them without interfering with their natural behaviours.   No pets, or any kind of loud noises aloud in the area.

We are visitors to their home - respect and silence is required.

Pengüins have their nests in the islands, but spend most of the day on the beach.

From time to time you see a sea woolf chacing them.

A trekking path with a very nice scenic view at all times.
