Live the experience of new day, paddling in complete silence surrounded only by the sounds of nature awakening while the sun starts to rise.

kayak at dawn - 8 Oct,2008

It was idea of our visitors to offer this peculiar activity: (Enjoy video at Tripadvisor).  Pascal and his friend, both from France, had the idea to go out in kayak at dawn, so we organize it!,   setting up their tents by Chepu River, next to the kayaks and ready to leave right before dawn.

During the night, the rivers are covered by mist, so you have to start kayaking Puntra River up with the first light until  the sunken forest and dead trees, to tie your kayak to the trees and wait in the silence for the changes at dawn.

When sun rays begin to appear, the mist starts to go away changing the silent scenery with a symphony of lights and shadows and the music from the awakening of the birds.   Some Huillines can be occasionally observed.

This activity has been described by our visitors as an adventure to the senses and emotions.

kayaking mirador de chepu - chepu adventures

The Sunken Forest with living trees that keep growing  in the water and the Dead Tree Valley with thousands of dead trees which after Chepu Valley was flooded in 1960, continue standing in the water, after almost 50 years.

Both a surprising  scenery to kayak by.

SUNKEN FOREST - KAYAK

Puntra River is on the north side of Chepu Wetlands and has many small branches going into the wetland.   One of these channels goes to an area of dead trees that some of our visitors have found like a Natural Sculpture Garden, and beautiful pictures can be taken as you go on kayak between the trees.

Going Puntra River up you find the Sunken Forest and afterwards the river starts to narrow changing complete the scenery.

After 6 kms. approximately the river ends in a natural DITCH
